Yes, you had caught your boyfriend (well, ex boyfriend) cheating. Yes, you slapped him across the face. Yes, you broke up with him in the worst possible way. And yes, you were depressed. But you were tired of clinging onto the past like it’s the most precious piece of treasure, you promised yourself to let it go.
You stared at your reflection with a smirk.
Sure, you were the tomboy who wore sweat shirts and jeans all the time, but that did not that mean you didn’t have your ways with sexy heels and makeup…even if you were still wearing jeans.
You headed out to your car. Checking your makeup one last time in the rear-view mirror, you drove off to __________ (best friend’s name)’s house for the party of a life time!
Turning the radio onto full blast, you sang to your favourite song, swinging your head back and forth. A few minutes later, you arrived at __________ ’s (best friend’s name) house. Pulling into her drive way, you turned off your engine and stepped out.
The ground shook beneath you to the beat of the music pouring through the windows of her house. It was no party like you had ever been to before. There must have been hundreds of people. How in the world did her manage to invite that many people?
Either way though, you smirked to yourself, you were here to have fun.

Ludwig sat in an oxblood couch, his legs crossed and eyebrows knotted. His stupid colleagues had somehow gotten themselves invited to this party and managed to drag him along. Surely, they knew parties weren’t his thing. The German swiped a strand of hair out of his face and took a sip of his beer. He checked his watch, it was a quarter to midnight and this party was nowhere near ending.
He glanced across the room and landed his gaze on Gilbert, with a beer in one hand and a girl’s waist in another. Ludwig sighed. Gilbert was supposed to the designated driver, well, that backfired. Still staring in the same direction, the blonde met eyes with a girl standing beside Gil, happily chatting with him and a few other girls. Her __________ (hair colour) hair floated down the sides of her face, perfectly framing her profile. Her _________ (hair colour) eyebrows her were drawn into a relaxed line, and her __________(eye colour) eyes shone out from beneath them with a breath-taking glitter.
Ludwig inhaled sharply as her gaze met his. A small smile was formed by the corners of her rosy lips, inviting him to join the conversation. He stood up without processing his actions through his brain, and headed towards that direction.
~~~
The blond man was absolutely perfectly built, not in a bulky and scary muscle-man kind of way though. He walked over swiftly, greeting Gilbert shortly.
“LUDWIG!” Gilbert responded loudly and excitedly, smacking the man’s shoulders, “finally decided to join the party?”
A few of the girls giggled.
“Actually,” the man spoke in a rich voice, “I’m here to remind you that you are supposed to be our designated driver,” he said, glaring at the beer Gil had in hand.
“Oops,” Gilbert laughed.
You felt someone elbow your side, turning, you saw ___________(best friend’s name) grinning at you. She gestured you to lean over. As you cocked your head to one side, she whispered into your ear, “well, he’s a good looking guy isn’t he?” pointing at the blonde.
You simply shrugged.
Unpleased, she tugged your arm again and whispered, “you need to enjoy the single life, ________!”
You laughed and didn’t respond.
The conversation continued between Gilbert and the other girls, your best friend ditched you saying that she wanted to dance, leaving a wink behind and disappeared into the crowd. A rather awkward silence was drawn out between you and Ludwig.
You tried to start a conversation, “so, um, Ludwig, is it? Are you enjoying yourself?” almost immediately, you wanted to smack yourself. That was a terrible conversation starter!
“Yes, my name is Ludwig” he held out his hand politely, as you shook it, telling him your name in return. “Well,” he continued, dropping his hand to his side, “I’m not really a… party person.”
You nodded at the new knowledge. He didn’t seem like a talkative guy anyways.
“What about you? Are you enjoying yourself?” Ludwig made an attempt to keep the conversation going.
“As a matter of fact, yes,” you smiled, secretly smirking to yourself because it was ironic to be having such a polite and casual conversation in a place where most people came to get laid, “it’s good to loosen up sometimes.”
The conversation was tossed back and forth lazily between the two of you, to your surprise, you found yourself enjoying it quite a lot.
It was about two in the morning when your best friend got herself up on top of a table and announced that the party was over. Many unhappy complains were made as people rushed out the door.
Ludwig sighed in relief, “well, glad that’s over” he shrugged.
You chuckled to yourself, “do you need a drive home?” you offered as you have responsibly stayed alcohol-free for the whole night.
He raised his eyebrows in slight surprise, “that would be great, if it’s okay with you.”
You nodded.
On the way out, you ran into Gilbert, who was in a state so drunk that he was speaking an alienated language to the two of you.
“Hey…yo..do…haf…fun, riiiight?” he said, collapsing on top of Ludwig.
You and Ludwig exchanged glances, unable to understand Gilbert.
The German opened his mouth to ask, but you answered his unasked question beforehand, “yes, I’ll drive him home too.”
Ludwig almost laughed as he carried Gilbert into your car, throwing him roughly onto the back seat and making his way around to sit in the front.
“We live in the same building, so you only have to make one stop,” he explained as he buckled himself in.
You nodded and followed the directions that Ludwig gave and headed out onto the road.
After a few turns, _________ was driving at a steady pace on the highway. It was dark out, the only light inside the car came from the streetlights. Her face switched between light and dark as they drove past each light.
Ludwig’s gaze landed on her face naturally, examining her every detail. The place her hair line began and the directions of her hair. The way her eyebrows lay on her forehead, and how much it complimented her profile. The way her lips curved and the way it connected to her cupid’s bow. It all occurred so attractive to him.
He was snapped out of his little atmosphere when _________ announced their arrival. Ludwig swiped numbers with ________ and thanked her a few more times before dragging Gilbert into his apartment.
Entering his own apartment after dropping Gilbert off, Ludwig settled in his couch in front of the TV and sighed. He was falling for this girl, and he knew it.
Though he had a feeling, somewhere deep inside, that this would not end well.
